AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala made assessments regarding domestic politics, the economy, the new constitution, foreign policy, and security in his statements to Habertürk TV Ankara Representative Nasuhi Güngör. Stating that work is continuing uninterrupted, especially in the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process, Ala said, “Practical work is continuing in the field. There is no disruption or interruption.”
Stating that four sub-committees have been formed regarding the process and that some committees have already begun operating, Ala expressed that a new commission is also expected to be established in Parliament shortly. Noting that integration efforts in the Sinjar region are ongoing and that the process regarding terrorists leaving Turkey is also being monitored, Ala noted that the developments will be shared with the public once they reach a certain stage.
Emphasizing that the issue of terrorism should not be made a subject of daily politics, Ala said, “Let us do it first, then talk about it. We should not make this a material for daily, fill-in-the-blank politics. This is a very serious issue.” Stating that Turkey has paid a heavy price for nearly half a century due to this problem, Ala expressed that the sacrifices of martyrs and veterans cannot be compared with any material measure.
RETIREES, INVESTIGATION, AND CANDIDACY
Responding to questions about the economy, Ala said that one of the government's primary goals is to increase the income level of citizens. Stating that they are aware of the problems experienced by retirees due to post-pandemic conditions and global economic developments, Ala said, “We know that our retirees are in distress.” Ala stated that improvement efforts for retirees are ongoing and that the results will be shared with the public when they are finalized.
Speaking about the fund investigation, Ala said that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has demonstrated a clear will on the matter and that both judicial and administrative investigations are ongoing. Stating that the State Supervisory Council has also been tasked, Ala declared, “Regardless of who they are, those who committed this wrong, those who committed this crime, and those who established this system of unfair gain and robbery will be held accountable.”
Touching upon the new constitution discussions, Ala stated that constitutions are fundamental consensus texts that determine the political climate of countries. Stating that they believe it would be beneficial to continue the Presidential Government System with reforms, Ala noted that, however, the essential thing is to ensure the broadest possible consensus.
Under the heading of foreign policy, Ala described the events in Gaza as “genocide” and argued that Turkey is one of the countries that voices the strongest objections in the international arena. Criticizing the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government in the region, Ala said that Turkey continues its diplomatic initiatives for regional peace and security.
Responding to a question about President Erdoğan's re-candidacy, Ala stated that there is no uncertainty for the AKP. Saying, “Our President's candidacy is clear and definite in our minds,” Ala added, “Our candidate is clear; it is President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Parliament will make its decision when the time comes.”
