AKP officials reveal: 'No vote, no service' rhetoric is intentional!

As the local elections approach, political parties have begun to intensify their election campaigns.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s remarks at rallies have sparked controversy.

Erdoğan first used the expression “If the central government and local government do not work hand in hand, nothing will come to that city; did anything come to Hatay?” in Hatay, one of the cities most affected by the February 6 earthquakes.

Following the backlash, Erdoğan did not take a step back and used similar expressions at rallies he held in Zonguldak and Ordu.

Sözcü columnist Deniz Zeyrek, in his article titled 'No promises left, let's use threats', shared the information he obtained regarding the rhetoric used by Erdoğan: "If the local government (i.e., the municipality) in a city is not from the People's Alliance, the central government (i.e., his own government) will not provide sufficient support. That city will be left destitute."

Emphasizing that similar words were also used by candidates belonging to the ruling party, Zeyrek noted the following:

"I immediately asked my sources in the AK Party: 'These cannot be gaffes. They certainly cannot be coincidences. So, are you doing this intentionally?'

Guess what answer I got: 'Yes, it is being done intentionally.'

If you are wondering why, let me share it immediately: In public opinion polls conducted by AK Party officials before the March 31 elections, it was observed that this method yielded results in local elections, especially in small provinces and districts.

It has been observed that the ruling party's 'No vote, no service' rhetoric triggers the public's fear of being 'deprived of services' in small places. (...)"
