Breaking News... Statement from the Ministry of National Defense on UAVs: 'No security vulnerability'
The Ministry of National Defense has made important statements regarding airspace security and recent developments.
The Ministry of National Defense (MSB), in a statement regarding the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that have recently crashed, stated that there is no vulnerability in airspace security. The Ministry announced that the UAVs are being examined and the results will be shared with the public.
The Ministry stated that the UAVs do not pose a direct threat to Turkey and that this situation is a reflection of the Ukraine-Russia war. It was emphasized that Turkey's airspace control is provided 24/7 through a multi-layered system and that there is no security gap in this regard.
PLANE CRASH IN LIBYA
The MSB shared details regarding the plane carrying the Libyan Chief of General Staff that crashed in Ankara. In the accident that occurred on December 23, the plane, which declared an emergency due to an electrical failure, lost radar contact while attempting to return to Esenboğa Airport. Search and rescue teams reached the wreckage of the plane in the rural area of Haymana, and it was announced that all passengers lost their lives in the crash. The cause of the accident is being investigated in cooperation with Libyan authorities.
REGIONAL TENSIONS AND THE SITUATION IN SYRIA
The Ministry also touched upon the trilateral summit held by Israel, Greece, and the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus. It was stated that Turkey is following these initiatives closely and that they do not pose a military threat. It was emphasized that Turkey is in favor of stability and dialogue in the region.
Regarding the situation in Syria, it was stated that the attacks by the PKK/YPG/SDF are damaging the territorial integrity of Syria.
