Bold statement from Erbakan: 'It is the political party that will blow the ballot boxes away in the March 31 elections'

New Welfare Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan attended the opening ceremony of the election liaison office for his party's Yerköy Mayoral Candidate, Mehmet Ağaoğlu.

Addressing party members there, Erbakan said that there has been a significant increase in the number of members of the New Welfare Party. In his speech, Erbakan said, "We all see the reality of the increase in the official membership numbers of our New Welfare Party, which is being talked about in the squares, on the streets, and in the polls. At the point we have reached, our membership number has approached 480,000, it has reached 478,000. Growing from 260,000 to 480,000 in six and a half months means a growth of more than 80 percent.

These figures clearly prove that our nation's favor, that our nation wants change, and that they see our New Welfare Party as the address for salvation and as the remedy. Our New Welfare Party is Turkey's fastest-growing political party and it is the political party that will blow the ballot boxes away in the March 31 elections, thank God. In the last elections, they weren't even showing us at 1 percent in the polls, and while they didn't even show us at 1 percent, we received nearly 3 percent of the vote in those elections. Now the same polling companies are showing us at 6-7 percent. What does this mean? If you calculate at the same rate, it means our New Welfare Party will receive over 20 percent of the vote in these elections, hopefully over 20 percent," he said.

Stating that 85 percent of the public in Turkey is poor and 45 percent is below the hunger threshold, Erbakan said, "Because the hunger threshold has reached 20,000 TL, and 45 percent of the public has a monthly income below 20,000 TL. The poverty threshold in Turkey has become 53,000 TL, 53,000 TL.

In other words, a household that does not have 53,000 TL entering it per month is poor, impoverished, given these prices and this cost of living. With this calculation, 85 percent of the public in Turkey is poor and 45 percent is below the hunger threshold. Why is the nation, overwhelmed by this picture, turning to the New Welfare Party? Because they remember very well what the National View (Milli Görüş) represented by our party did during the prime ministry of our teacher Erbakan in 1996-97, and that is why.

He gave a 100 percent, 200 percent salary raise to workers, civil servants, and retirees, and a 320 percent raise to Bağ-Kur retirees. This is the blessing of the National View. They say that what teacher Erbakan gave in 11 months, they could not give in 20 years. Yes, it is true, that National View government of teacher Erbakan was a world champion in the field of increasing the purchasing power and welfare level of low-income people at this rate in such a short time.

In no other country in the world has any government increased the purchasing power and welfare level of the nation at this rate in a period as short as 11 months. All the wheels of the economy began to turn. The tradesmen's business picked up, and there was movement in the markets and bazaars. The producer's orders increased, and their business picked up. The wheels of the economy began to turn. These happened with the blessing of the National View. Our nation says, 'Then we will embrace the National View again to get rid of this economic crisis,' and they are flocking to the New Welfare Party. Hopefully, the same will happen again in 2024," he said.
