Expected legislative proposal in Parliament sparks debate: 'Öcalan gave his approval'
Former AK Party deputy Mehmet Metiner has claimed that an agreement has been reached between the government and Abdullah Öcalan, who is imprisoned in İmralı, regarding a legislative proposal to be submitted to Parliament in the coming days.
Former AK Party Adıyaman Deputy Mehmet Metiner stated in remarks made on a television channel known for its proximity to Barzani that there is no disagreement between the government and PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan. Metiner used the expressions, "There is no friction whatsoever. A full consensus has been reached in the talks."
'ÖCALAN GAVE HIS APPROVAL'
Metiner claimed that a proposal set to come to the agenda as part of legislative preparations has also received the approval of Abdullah Öcalan. He stated that the regulation in question is expected to be brought to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey next Tuesday and subsequently enacted on Thursday or Friday. Stating, "This is a legislative proposal that Öcalan has also approved," Metiner emphasized that the talks held with the government are continuing entirely on the basis of an agreement and reiterated that there is no crisis in the process.
On the other hand, DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit also made evaluations regarding the legal regulations being worked on in the 'Turkey without Terrorism' process during a press conference she held at the TBMM. Koçyiğit stated, "The framework law expected to come to the TBMM should not be seen as a result. In fact, this law symbolizes the beginning of a new era. Our party is continuing its contacts with both the ruling party and other political groups. There will be very intense traffic of meetings within this week."
Koçyiğit further stated that the law is expected to be placed on the agenda of both the Justice Commission and the General Assembly before Parliament closes, saying: "I can confirm the information that the framework law will be accepted before Parliament closes; however, we expect it to be submitted to both the Justice Commission and the General Assembly as soon as possible."
