Has the 'Bahçeli model' been shelved? A surprising statement from Numan Kurtulmuş

Grand National Assembly of Turkey Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş answered questions from members of the press during his visits to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Kurtulmuş stated that the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process has reached this point thanks to the determination of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Kurtulmuş said, "The determination of our President and his will to make this issue a state policy have been decisive in bringing this process to this stage. If our President had not paved the way for this process, it would not have been possible to reach this point. As the Commission Speaker, I am conveying all information regarding the process to our President so that complete cooperation can be ensured."

İMRALI MEETING WILL BE DISCLOSED TO THE PUBLIC

Kurtulmuş stated that the details of the meeting held by AKP, MHP, and DEM Party members with the terrorist leader Öcalan in İmralı will be shared with the public. He added, "When we return to Turkey, we will address this issue, and the deputies who went to İmralı will convey their observations to the commission. The main outlines of what was discussed there will be shared with the commission, and this meeting will not remain secret."

Kurtulmuş noted that the CHP has made a positive contribution to the process and has taken care not to remain on the sidelines. "The CHP's decision not to go to İmralı is their own choice. It is likely a decision made for reasons such as their congress. It would have been better if they had participated, but that is their own business," he added.

COMMENTARY ON MHP'S 'BAHÇELİ MODEL'

Kurtulmuş's statements recalled the MHP's remarks regarding the 'Bahçeli model.' MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız had stated that this process is called the 'Bahçeli model' and that it would set an example for the world once completed.
