The Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into allegations that some party members damaged ballot boxes and property during the YENİ Party Esenyurt District Ordinary Congress.
The complaint regarding the congress, which was held on September 27 and reportedly postponed due to the tension that occurred, was filed by Tuncay Özay, one of the party's district administrators.
It was reported that Özay applied to the prosecutor's office with the allegation that some participants damaged ballot boxes and property during the election, which featured a single list after one candidate withdrew.
It was learned that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation upon the application under the charge of "damaging public property."
It was reported that the identities of the suspects have not yet been determined within the scope of the investigation, and that warrants have been issued for the examination of camera footage, the assessment of the damaged property, the collection of witness statements, and the taking of suspect testimonies.
The investigation is ongoing.
