Investigation permit against Mansur Yavaş draws reaction from CHP

The granting of an investigation permit by the Ministry of Interior against Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and 38 municipal council members has drawn a reaction from the Republican People's Party (CHP). CHP Deputy Chairman in charge of Legal Policies, Gökçe Gökçen, issued a written statement on the matter, stating that Yavaş was targeted due to his struggle against the rent-seeking order in Ankara.

Gökçen said, "Mansur Yavaş used his veto power in accordance with the legislation by standing against irregular zoning increases in the Dodurga region. For this reason, an investigation permit has been issued against him." She also drew attention to the irregular zoning increases that came to the agenda in the past with the resignation of Melih Gökçek and the appointment of Mustafa Tuna.

"IT IS REMARKABLE THAT THE SAME INSPECTOR CONTINUOUSLY GRANTS INVESTIGATION PERMITS"

Gökçen also pointed out that the investigation permits issued against Mansur Yavaş were always granted by the same civil inspector. Stating that this situation is not a coincidence, Gökçen said, "Mansur Yavaş received an investigation permit because he vetoed zoning increases that would harm Ankara. It is thought-provoking that the same inspector is constantly involved in this process and that the allegations of him meeting with Melih Gökçek have not been denied," she stated.
