İYİ Party on a 'steep' slope! Dikbayır responds to harassment allegations: 'They will be disgraced and humiliated'

İYİ Party Sakarya Deputy Ümit Dikbayır had been referred to the İYİ Party High Disciplinary Board with a request for his permanent expulsion over allegations that he 'harassed a woman working at the party and subsequently ensured she was fired from her job.'

Dikbayır said, “There is something underneath this that some of our party officials will be very ashamed of. When I explain it, they will be disgraced and humiliated.”

"I WILL STAY UNTIL THE END"

Speaking to Sözcü columnist Saygı Öztürk, Dikbayır stated, “How did the issue get here, how was it brought here, and how did it evolve into something completely different? It is incomprehensible. From this point on, I will not resign from our party; I will stay until the end.”

Dikbayır said the following:

“Honestly, I was thinking of resigning from our party in 5-10 days. I was going to remain independent. But since the matter has been brought to this point, I will fight until the end. I mean, it is a shame. There are so many people calling, both party members and non-members. They are doing a disservice to the party.

"IT IS KNOWN WHO COVERED IT UP"

There is something underneath this that some of our party officials will be very ashamed of. When I explain it, they will be disgraced and humiliated. I am ashamed to tell some things. (Dikbayır made significant allegations here on the condition that they not be published) They fired the woman who was allegedly harassed in the party and covered up the incident. That poor girl thinks I am responsible for her being fired. Now they have sharpened her; they have hired this person whom they fired 5 years ago just so she would slander me. It is known who this girl was in a relationship with at the time and who covered up this incident. The Chairperson is not being given accurate information; it is proceeding based on gossip again. What will they do when I explain these things one day? Yes, I have to explain these things openly. Because they have openly slandered me. I have children. How can such a thing be?”

Ümit Dikbayır will submit a petition to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office today to have the allegations against him investigated. He will also submit a petition to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Speaker's Office requesting the lifting of his parliamentary immunity regarding the subject of the allegations.
