İYİ Party's Turhan Çömez on inflation: 'Why don't you say we couldn't manage this?'

İYİ Party Balıkesir MP Turhan Çömez reacted sharply to the government's inflation policies in a post on his social media account.

Çömez argued that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said "Inflation will fall to single digits" 8 times in the last 8 years, noting that this goal has not been realized.

He stated that different reasons have been put forward as justifications for why inflation has not fallen during the same period.

"DOES NOTHING STICK TO YOU?"

Listing reasons such as the coronavirus, the Ukraine-Russia War, drought, the opening of schools, frost, gold under the mattress, the month of Ramadan, and the Iran War in his post, Çömez attacked the government, saying, "Are you a Teflon pan? Does nothing stick to you? Why don't you say 'we couldn't manage this?'"

Çömez also criticized food inflation, stating, "You won the bronze medal in food inflation, congratulations, you have become third in the world!"

The post also quoted a previous message referencing Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek's remarks that energy prices could negatively affect the inflation outlook.
