The Ministry of Interior has announced that Denizli Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan has been suspended from office. The ministry's statement indicated that the decision was made following Doğan's arrest as part of an ongoing investigation.
In the written statement issued by the ministry, it was stated that an investigation is being conducted against Doğan by the Denizli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under file number 2026/13472 for the crimes of "bribery, bid-rigging, and extortion."
The statement noted that Doğan, who was arrested by the Denizli 2nd Criminal Court of Peace with its decision dated October 31, 2026, and numbered 2026/469, has been suspended from office by the Ministry of Interior as a temporary measure in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.
