Özel’s election message to the government in Yalova: You will be left empty-handed when the day comes
Addressing citizens in Yalova, YENİ Party Chairman Özgür Özel brought the problems of producers and retirees to the agenda and called on the government to head to the ballot box.
YENİ Party Chairman Özgür Özel launched a harsh attack on the government in his speech in Yalova, focusing on the economy, agriculture, retirees, and the election agenda. Walking with citizens on Gazipaşa Street, Özel later addressed the gathered crowd.
Stating that they met with producers and flower growers in a kiwi orchard as part of the program, Özel also touched upon his meeting with retirees. Saying that they embraced retirees who have been "subjected to an injustice unseen in history," Özel stated, "Their hope is also in the new, it is in the YENİ Party."
Before his speech, Özel pinned a badge on Subaşı Town Mayor Turan Canbay, who joined his party. Stating that the YENİ Party is open to different segments of society, Özel argued that their party is the party of those who "are not satisfied with the opposition" and those who set out with the goal of coming to power.
EMPHASIS ON PRODUCERS AND RETIREES
Criticizing the government's economic policies through the minimum wage and retirement pensions, Özel compared the purchasing power of past years with the current situation. Özel said, "The name of this injustice is the AK Party's corrupt order. The YENİ Party will change this order."
Drawing attention to the problems faced by kiwi producers in Yalova, Özel claimed that the entry of illegal kiwis was turned a blind eye to last year, causing product prices to fall. Stating that the burden of debt and interest is forcing producers, Özel criticized the lack of planning and support in agriculture.
Özel stated that if they come to power, they will implement a different support model in agriculture, saying, "We will not provide a bridge crossing guarantee, but a livelihood guarantee to the farmer." In this context, he voiced promises of directing towards the right product, preventing purchases below the base price, and state-guaranteed purchasing.
Touching upon Yalova's past election experiences, Özel emphasized that the will of the voters in the city must be protected. Criticizing the government over the Istanbul elections and Ekrem İmamoğlu, Özel argued that the will of the ballot box was interfered with.
In the harshest part of his speech, Özel addressed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, claiming that the government is making election calculations. Özel said, "Either you will not run away from this nation and face us, or you will be left empty-handed when that day comes."
Addressing those who have fallen into despair, Özel said, "No matter what evil they do, we are standing tall. No matter how much they try, we will reach that ballot box, we will take that power."
Stating that the doors of the YENİ Party are open to "Turkey's democrats," Özel made a call to conservatives, nationalists, Kurds, socialists, and liberal democrats. Describing Yalova as the city that Atatürk called "my hometown," Özel concluded his speech with an emphasis on unity and the goal of coming to power.
