Özgür Özel: CHP will be led by cadres where Ataturkists will find themselves
CHP Chair candidate and the party's group chair Özgür Özel spoke during a visit by the Association for Kemalist Thought (ADD). Özel stated, "We want to announce the good news that management cadres where Ataturkists will find themselves will lead the CHP in the 100th year of the Republic."
Association for Kemalist Thought (ADD) President Hüsnü Bozkurt and the accompanying delegation visited CHP Chair candidate and the party's group chair Özgür Özel at his office. Speaking there, Özel recalled that the ADD was the first institutional visit he made after announcing his candidacy for the CHP Chairmanship on September 15.
Stating that this was a special and conscious choice, Özel said that the ADD is the first place that a person and cadres running for the chairmanship of the party founded by Atatürk, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, should visit.
Expressing that they shared the situation Turkey and the CHP are in and their proposed solutions during their provincial visits, Özel explained that they made two important points in these meetings, one of which is their commitment to the cadres and values that founded the Republic.
"CHP WILL UPHOLD ITS FOUNDING VALUES"
Secondly, emphasizing that they never accept the CHP taking a timid stance on secularism, Özel noted the following:
"Secularism is not just a preference of the cadres who created a republic. We want to strongly underline that if there are no civil wars or sectarian wars in Turkey today, on these lands, and if people's blood is not being spilled in the middle of the street because of their choices, we owe this both to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the greatest revolutionary raised by these lands, and to the principle of secularism. In the coming period, the CHP, as a social democratic party, a left-wing party, will continue its path as a party that upholds its founding process, its founders, and its founding values."
"ATATURKISTS WILL FIND THEMSELVES IN MANAGEMENT CADRES"
Stating that the party will be managed by young and new cadres, Özel said, "We want to announce the good news that management cadres where Ataturkists will find themselves will lead the CHP in the 100th year of the Republic."
ADD President Hüsnü Bozkurt also noted that Turkey's way out lies in Ataturkist thought, and wished Özgür Özel and his colleagues a process that will produce positive results for Turkey on this path they have embarked upon.
