A new poll regarding Erzurum, where the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) received strong results in previous elections, has revealed striking changes in voter preferences in the city. In the September survey shared by data analyst Murat Kızılboğa, responses to the question "If an election were held this Sunday" showed a decline in the vote shares of the AKP and MHP.
According to the research, the AKP's vote share in Erzurum was measured at 35.9 percent. The party had received 43.32 percent of the vote in the city in the last general election. This picture indicates a 7.42-point drop for the AKP.
A limited decline was also calculated for the MHP. The MHP, which received 16.67 percent of the vote in Erzurum in the last general election, stood at 15.5 percent in the poll. Thus, the party's vote loss was recorded at 1.17 points.
INCREASE IN YRP AND DEM PARTY
The most striking result of the poll was seen in the New Welfare Party (YRP). It was stated that the YRP, which received 4.92 percent of the vote in Erzurum in the last general election, reached 12.8 percent in the current survey. Accordingly, the party's vote share increased by 7.88 points, nearly two and a half times its previous level.
The DEM Party was also seen to have increased its votes in the city. The party, which received 9.9 percent in the previous election, was measured at 13.2 percent in the poll. The DEM Party's increase was calculated at 3.1 points.
In the research, the CHP's vote share was 8.9 percent. While the IYI Party appeared at 5.2 percent and the Victory Party (Zafer Partisi) at 3.9 percent, the total vote share of other parties was announced as 4.6 percent.
It was predicted that if the poll results were reflected in the ballot box in the same way, the distribution of parliamentary seats in Erzurum could also change. According to the calculation, it was stated that the AKP could win 2 seats, the MHP 1, the DEM Party 1, and the YRP 1.
