Selahattin Demirtaş's goal in Ankara revealed! Is there tension between him and terrorist leader Öcalan?

Cemalettin Kani Torun, who announced that he would continue his parliamentary duties as an independent following the dissolution of the Gelecek Party, made statements regarding his meeting with imprisoned former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş.

Responding to questions from T24's Cansu Çamlıbel, Torun stated that he met with Demirtaş about three months ago and described their conversation as follows:

"He was extremely positive. We talked about the process. Let me quote his words there. 'I want to take on a role in Ankara. Whatever the high-level state positions in Ankara are, that is my goal now,' he said. In our conversation, he said that it is a positive thing for Kurdish politics to set its sights on Ankara and that this should be encouraged. 'Kurdish politics should now become a part of Ankara. If I am to have a hand in this, then of course I would support it or become a part of it,' he said. I think Selahattin Demirtaş is the person who can best convey to Turkish society the vision that Öcalan also describes as a 'Democratic Republic.' I believe Demirtaş possesses that legitimacy."

Upon Çamlıbel's question regarding whether there is tension between Demirtaş and the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan, Torun said, "The appearance of a conflict was, frankly, put forward somewhat by opposition circles."
