Striking detail in AKP's 'Why didn't you vote for us?' survey! It's not just the economy...

The March 31 Local Elections, from which the AKP emerged defeated, have led to ongoing efforts to analyze the reasons for the loss.

In the AKP, which has fallen to the position of the second party in Turkey for the first time since its founding, a large-scale survey was conducted.

The survey gauged the pulse of voters who went to the polls for other parties, including the CHP, as well as those who did not vote at all.

AKP sources noted that reasons listed under the economy heading, such as the cost of living, retirees, and rent prices, accounted for over 50 percent of the vote loss. The most important reason after the economy was cited as the AKP's 'detachment from the public'.

"A NEW STORY WILL BE CREATED"

According to a report by the Türkiye newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, party officials commented, “Data regarding the election results continues to be collected. In a sense, we want to clearly reveal the citizens' expectations of us. SETA is conducting a study, and reports and suggestions from party organizations and members of parliament are also being received. What do citizens expect from us? We are looking at it from every angle. These findings will be influential in the party's future roadmap. A new program and a new story will be created.”
