Warning from DEM Party to Iran with Öcalan message: Right to a 'harsh response' if attacks continue

DEM Party Deputy Co-Chair Tayip Temel issued a warning to Iran in a post shared on his social media account in Kurdish. Referencing a recent message from PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Temel brought up Iran's attacks on the Kurdistan Region and its execution policies.

In his post, Temel argued that if the Iranian administration does not stop its attacks and end its "policy of execution, that is, hanging," the Kurds have the right to respond.

President Öcalan gave the following warning in his last message: If the Iranian regime does not stop its attacks on the Kurdistan Region and does not end its policy of execution, that is, hanging, the Kurds have the right to respond to the reactionary Mullah regime in an extremely harsh manner.

The statement came at a time when Iran's attacks on camps belonging to Iranian Kurdish organizations in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and tensions in Iranian domestic politics are being discussed. It had been reported previously that there were casualties in the aforementioned attacks.

The background of the tension in the region also includes an alliance announcement by some Kurdish organizations operating in Iran. The formation, which includes the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, the Kurdistan Free Life Party, the Organization of Iranian Kurdistan Struggle, the Kurdistan Freedom Party, and the Komala of the Toilers of Kurdistan, had announced that it aimed to struggle against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

US President Donald Trump's remarks that weapons were being sent to protesters in Iran "through the Kurds" had also previously caused controversy; the Kurdish parties in Iran had denied this claim.
