Access ban on ‘fund crisis’ news: İFÖD announces the reason is ‘national security’

According to information shared by the Freedom of Expression Association (İFÖD) on its EngelliWeb page, an access ban has been imposed on some news reports regarding the process known in the public eye as the “fund crisis.”

İFÖD announced that the decision was taken under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651, with the “protection of national security and public order” cited as the justification.

In the EngelliWeb post, it was stated that the blocked news reports concerned the connections between certain investment and portfolio management companies and their executives and partners with well-known public figures.

İFÖD shared images of some news reports published in Gazete Pencere, Evrensel, and Sözcü as examples of the content subject to the access ban.

“News reports about the ‘fund crisis’ have also been blocked on the grounds of national security and public order. The blocked reports cover the connections of investment and portfolio management company executives and partners with well-known public figures.”
