A new access ban has been added to the decisions targeting Halk TV's YouTube channel. According to the Freedom of Expression Association (İFÖD), following the access ban on the 2.6 million-subscriber channel via the username @Halktvkanali on October 14, a new blocking decision has been issued this time based on the channel's ID-based URL.
It was stated that the decision was taken based on the channel's YouTube ID, UCf_ResXZzE-o18zACUEmyvQ. It was noted that after the first blocking decision, the channel's username was changed to @Halktv-eu.
In İFÖD's announcement, it was stated that despite the new blocking decision, the channel has not yet been made invisible to users in Turkey by YouTube.
Previously, an access ban decision had been issued for Halk TV's social media accounts, which had their broadcasts halted after the appointment of a trustee, within the scope of Article 8/A of Law No. 5651.
Following this decision, Halk TV's X account with approximately 3 million followers and its TikTok account with 256 thousand followers were closed to access from Turkey by the respective platforms.
