Published in the Official Gazette: 46-year-old regulation in the Police Department abolished

The "Regulation on the Repeal of the Regulation on the Working Principles and Methods of the Police Organization Disciplinary Boards," prepared by the Ministry of Interior, has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

With the new arrangement, the "Regulation on the Working Principles and Methods of the Police Organization Disciplinary Boards," which had been applied since April 5, 1980, has been repealed.

IT CONTAINED PROVISIONS REGARDING DISCIPLINARY BOARDS

The repealed regulation determined the principles regarding the formation, working order, meeting procedures, and the discussion and decision-making processes of the disciplinary boards within the Police Organization.

The regulation also included provisions regarding the rapporteur system, the conduct of disciplinary investigations, the exercise of personnel's right to defense, and the notification and implementation of the decisions taken.

IT REGULATED DECISION-MAKING PROCESSES

The old regulation contained provisions regarding the quorum for disciplinary board meetings, the circumstances under which members could not participate in meetings, the mandatory nature of obtaining a defense in disciplinary investigations, and the fact that disciplinary proceedings could be conducted independently of criminal proceedings.

In addition, regulations concerning the duties and powers of the Ministry's High Disciplinary Board were also within the scope of the regulation in question.
