CES 2025 is presenting us with innovative technologies that are expected to have a major impact in the future, though little information is currently available about them. At this event, Samsung introduced a revolutionary screen technology that transforms two-dimensional objects into the third dimension. So, what kind of changes will this technology bring to our lives? Here are all the details…
SAMSUNG HAS DEVELOPED A 3D SCREEN THAT TURNS INTO REALITY!
Samsung Display attracted great attention at the CES 2025 fair with its screen technology that can stretch, bend, and even inflate. This innovative technology rises from the center of the screen outward in the shape of a dome, bringing two-dimensional images into the third dimension. Although it is still in the concept stage, this technology has the potential to revolutionize many fields in the future, from wearable devices to automotive infotainment systems.
Samsung introduced its stretchable screen technology with two different demonstrations. In the first, an image of the Sphere venue in Las Vegas was displayed, and in the second, a shark animation that appeared to be coming out of the glass was showcased. Although the 3D effect is not fully felt at first glance, when viewed closely, it is noticeable that the Sphere protrudes slightly from the screen, creating a sense of depth. In the shark animation, the movement of the screen enhances the drama of the scene. The bulge of the screen becomes particularly apparent when viewed from the side.
While Samsung has not made an announcement regarding when this flexible screen will turn into a commercial product, it highlighted some potential areas of use.
For example, innovative applications such as interactive 3D watch faces on wearable devices or 3D maps in automotive navigation systems could be used. The demonstrations presented show that this technology is quite suitable for animations and user interface effects.
