Relegation penalty had been issued: Decision reached for Lyon!

Lyon, one of France's historic football clubs, will retain its place in Ligue 1 following a decision by the National Directorate of Control and Management (DNCG). Lyon, which had previously been ordered to be relegated to Ligue 2 for failing to meet its financial obligations, has been spared from this penalty as a result of subsequent evaluations.

It was known that Lyon faced the threat of relegation due to its financial difficulties. The DNCG had stated that the club was under a debt burden exceeding approximately 500 million euros and was unable to meet financial requirements.

However, new financial guarantees and plans presented by club officials led the DNCG to review its decision.

WILL CONTINUE TO PLAY IN LIGUE 1

Following these developments, Lyon will compete in Ligue 1 next season and will also feature in the UEFA Europa League.
