Debt dispute ends in bloodshed: Market owner's son shoots 19-year-old

A chilling murder took place on the evening of March 20 at a grocery store located on 1064 Street in the Aşağıpazarcı neighborhood of Manavgat. Around 8:00 PM, a dispute of as-yet-undisclosed origin broke out between Hakan Kılıç and his friend Hasan Şimşek, who had met at the store.

As the disagreement between them suddenly escalated into violence, Hakan Kılıç fired at Hasan Şimşek with a handgun he was carrying. Following reports from bystanders, police and medical teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon examination by medical personnel, it was determined that Şimşek had lost his life at the scene.

Following the incident, Hakan Kılıç was taken into custody along with the weapon used in the murder. It was noted that an alcohol test revealed 3.87 promille of alcohol in Kılıç's blood.

According to the statement Kılıç gave at the courthouse, he claimed that when he demanded payment from Şimşek regarding a debt, Şimşek told him, "Take it if you can," which led to the argument that resulted in death.

As part of the investigation, the market owner, father Resul Kılıç, was also taken into custody. In his statement, Resul Kılıç claimed he was unaware that his son had taken the weapon he kept at home to the store.

Both suspects were arrested by the criminal judgeship of peace after their proceedings at the prosecutor's office and were sent to prison.

When the business's security camera footage of the incident was examined, it was stated that the moment Hakan Kılıç wrapped his arm around Hasan Şimşek's neck and pulled the trigger was captured. The murder caused great sorrow in the neighborhood.

It was stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
