New era begins for green and grey passports

The Ministry of Interior has transitioned to a digital system for special (green) and service (grey) stamped passport applications. With the new practice, request forms prepared by institutions will be transmitted to MERNIS via electronic signature, and document verification processes for applications will be carried out in an electronic environment.

APPLICATIONS MOVED TO ELECTRONIC ENVIRONMENT

With the new practice, request forms used for green and grey passport applications will no longer be prepared in printed form. Documents created by institutions with electronic signatures and digital approval will be transmitted directly to the Central Civil Registration System (MERNIS).

Thus, it is ensured that document traffic in the application process is reduced and procedures are carried out via a digital environment.

DOCUMENT VERIFICATION WILL BE DONE INSTANTLY

Thanks to the electronic request form system, documents transmitted to civil registration offices can be verified simultaneously. In this way, it is aimed to prevent delays caused by missing or incorrect documents.

With the new practice, it is targeted to conclude applications faster and shorten processing times.
