6.1 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Japan
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake has occurred off the east coast of Japan's Hokkaido region. No tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake, and there were no reports of loss of life or property.

The German Research Centre for Geosciences announced the magnitude of the earthquake that took place in Hokkaido as 6.1.

Different information was shared regarding the depth of the earthquake. While Reuters stated that the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported this depth as 20 kilometers.
The agency also announced that the epicenter of the earthquake was off the east coast of Hokkaido and that there was no risk of a tsunami. No damage was reported as a result of the earthquake.
