Arrogant Cyprus message from Greece: 'It could be an opportunity for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from the island'

As the conflicts between the US-Israel and Iran in the Middle East intensify, Iran's targeting of British bases in the Southern Cyprus Greek Administration with unmanned aerial vehicles has raised tensions in the region. Following these developments, the Greek administration announced that it would respond rapidly to any requests for support from the Greek Cypriot administration, and that it had dispatched two F-16 fighter jets and two frigates to the region.

'IT COULD BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO WITHDRAW THE TROOPS'

Greek Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias, in a live broadcast on a television channel, claimed that the recent developments in Cyprus have created a new situation for Turkey. Dendias made the following assessment regarding the Turkish troops in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus:

''Turkey has a very large military force in the occupied territory of Northern Cyprus. There are currently over 40 thousand soldiers there. Perhaps these events could be a good opportunity to withdraw them from the island...''

While countries in the region have gone on alert following Iran's attack, Greece's military move and Dendias's words have further increased the existing tension on the island of Cyprus. Officials from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have not yet made an official statement on the matter. These developments have once again brought the delicate balances in the Eastern Mediterranean to the fore.
