Belgium and France condemn Israel's school attack

Reactions from European countries continue to arrive following Israel's attack on the Al-Tabin School in Gaza City during morning prayers, which resulted in the deaths of more than 100 civilians.

Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib stated on her social media account, "We strongly condemn the school attack in Gaza that claimed the lives of at least 100 displaced persons. This war must end immediately. Targeting civilian infrastructure is a violation of international law and is unacceptable."

Minister Lahbib also noted that she had spoken with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, stating that they exchanged views on "mediation efforts to prevent the escalation of tensions in the Middle East and to find a lasting political solution to the conflict in the Gaza Strip." Lahbib added, "We remain committed to de-escalating tensions in Gaza and to a ceasefire agreement."

"INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW MUST BE RESPECTED"

In a statement issued by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was emphasized that the Israeli attack was condemned in the strongest possible terms. The statement said, "For weeks, school buildings have been targeted repeatedly, resulting in an unacceptable number of civilian casualties. Israel must respect international humanitarian law."
