Breaking News... Saudi Arabia calls for 'urgent' defense meeting with Turkey and Pakistan

Saudi Arabia has decided to hold an urgent meeting with the military command echelons of Turkey and Pakistan following an increase in attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen on border regions and southern provinces.

It was stated that the meeting will be held within the scope of the Mecca Agreement signed between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. The discussions are expected to address potential support that can be provided to Riyadh within the framework of joint defense arrangements.

Turkey became a party to the Mecca Agreement in August with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It is stated that the agreement includes provisions that foresee a joint response to attacks against any of the signatory countries.

When previously asked whether this mechanism would be activated against the Houthis, following reminders that the agreement contains provisions similar to NATO's Article 5, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan replied, "We have the capability to provide all kinds of support at the military level."
