Tensions have risen once again during the Yellow Vest protests in France. Footage of a police officer caught in flames during demonstrations held in the capital, Paris, on October 31, has become a trending topic on social media, prompting the Paris Prosecutor's Office to take action.
According to reports in the French press, clashes broke out between protesters and police around the Porte de Charenton. During the unrest, a police officer was severely injured in the leg after a Molotov cocktail, allegedly thrown by protesters, ignited.
The Paris Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation for "attempted murder" has been opened regarding the attack. It was reported that efforts have been initiated to identify the attackers as part of the investigation.

The incident also drew reactions in French politics. Numerous politicians, including National Rally (RN) presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, stated that violence against law enforcement must not go unpunished.
In the country, where protests continue despite the government's heavy security measures and partial curfews implemented in some regions, allegations of "disproportionate force" regarding police interventions have also become a subject of debate.
More than 500 people were detained in the latest demonstrations, which were reported to have been attended by over 320 thousand people nationwide. It was stated that more than 3 thousand businesses have been damaged or looted in the protests since October 17, and the total number of detentions has reached approximately 2 thousand.
The Yellow Vest movement in France took to the streets again on October 24, despite the government tightening security measures. It is reported that more than a thousand people have been injured in the protests so far.
