Claim that mediators are trying to bring the US and Iran together in Islamabad

While conflicting statements continue regarding the talks announced by the US and Iran as having taken place between the two countries, an unnamed Israeli official has claimed that mediator countries are attempting to arrange a meeting between the US and Iran in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad.

The Israeli official suggested that the meeting in question would likely take place this week, stating that the US delegation would include US Vice President James David Vance, US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, while the Iranian delegation would include Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

"No negotiations held with the US"

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf denied US President Donald Trump's statements that they have been in talks with Iran, saying, "The Iranian people demand that the aggressors be punished in the harshest way possible. Until this goal is achieved, all Iranian officials stand firmly behind their supreme leader and their people. No negotiations have been held with the US. Fake news is being used to manipulate financial and oil markets and to save the US and Israel from the impasse they are stuck in."
