Germany now has a Turkish state premier
According to exit polls in Germany's Berlin state election, the Left Party has taken the lead.
Voting in the elections held in the German states of Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern concluded at 18:00 local time.
According to the exit poll announced by the German public broadcaster ARD, the Left Party placed first in Berlin with 24.5 percent of the vote.
Elif Eralp, the Left Party's candidate for state premier, emphasized unity and justice in her victory speech following the election results.
