Fistfight in the Italian Parliament
Leonardo Donno, a deputy from the Five Star Movement (M5S), was physically attacked after protesting a bill that would grant more autonomy to regional governments in the Italian parliament by unfurling an Italian flag.
A brawl broke out in the Italian parliament during the debate on a bill prepared by the right-wing coalition government led by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, which proposes greater autonomy for regional governments.
Five Star Movement (M5S) deputy Leonardo Donno protested the bill by unfurling an Italian flag.
Deputies from the ruling parties reacted sharply to the move and attacked Donno with punches.
Donno, who fell to the ground after receiving blows during the attack, was taken out of the assembly in a wheelchair.
Following the brawl, the session was immediately suspended, and it was reported that a security guard who intervened to break up the fight was also injured.
