Israel strikes Syria: Netanyahu declares 'we will occupy'... 'David Corridor nearing completion'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Israeli occupation in southern Syria will be permanent. Participating via video conference in an event organized by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Washington, Netanyahu noted that ''the Israeli army will continue to be stationed on the summit of Mount Hermon in Syria.''

While expressing that they will maintain their presence in the buffer zone adjacent to the region, Netanyahu argued that they will not allow the Syrian army to be present south of Damascus. The Israeli Prime Minister suggested that southern Syria must be completely demilitarized.

Touching upon his meeting with US President Donald Trump, Netanyahu stated that this was the most important meeting he has held with a US President. Thanking Trump for facilitating new arms sales to Israel, Netanyahu said, 'The US-Israel alliance has never been stronger.'

AIRSTRIKES ON SYRIA

Israel carried out airstrikes targeting locations in the Syrian capital Damascus and the Daraa province. Israeli warplanes struck the Kiswah area of Damascus and the Izra area of Daraa with at least four attacks. A fire broke out in the region following the attacks, which targeted an arms depot in Kiswah.

Netanyahu also addressed the Israeli occupation in southern Syria during a military graduation ceremony he attended yesterday, stating the following:

''We will not allow the new regime forces to enter the region south of Damascus. We demand that southern Syria be completely demilitarized.''

Stating that attacks on the West Bank will continue, Netanyahu reiterated his threats against Iran. Netanyahu noted that they will maintain their presence in Palestinian refugee camps in the region and that the attacks will be long-term.

PROTESTS HELD IN DAMASCUS

Netanyahu's statements regarding Syria were protested in front of the United Nations (UN) office in Damascus. Dozens of people reacted to Netanyahu's remarks regarding Israel's occupation in southern Syria. Carrying Syrian flags and placards reading 'No occupation is legitimate, even with the passage of time,' the demonstrators chanted slogans saying 'Syria belongs to the Syrians.'

Participating in the protest, Ibrahim Muhammad stated that they came together against Netanyahu's statements and foreign interference, noting the following:

'We do not accept any foreign interference in Syria's internal affairs. The revolution began to build a Syria for all Syrians, and now we are in the reconstruction process.'

Protester Kenan Atar expressed, 'Occupation is occupation, and nothing lasts forever. Even if it is difficult to achieve, we will never give up our rights.' Atar stated that if they remain silent, the oppression will continue.

Activist Nur Geybe said they reject Netanyahu's statements and that this is a clear attack on Syria's sovereignty, noting the following:

''No state has the right to interfere in the sovereignty of another state. Talking about whether there is a state in southern Syria is entirely an internal matter for Syria.''

ISRAEL WARNING FROM TURHAN ÇÖMEZ

Making a social media post regarding Israel's attacks on Syria, Turhan Çömez said that the Israeli army has taken full control of southern Syria and that the David Corridor is nearing completion.

Stating that Israeli warplanes bombed the southern region of Damascus, Çömez made the following remarks:

''Israel has taken full control of southern Syria. The David Corridor is nearing completion. Israeli warplanes, which made low-altitude flights over Damascus tonight, also bombed the southern part of the city. Our people's tea-and-coffee phase is over, but they are currently busy laying carpets in the Umayyad Mosque.''
