Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made a new claim regarding Iran and its proxy forces in the region ahead of the general elections to be held on October 27. In a video statement, Netanyahu alleged that they have received intelligence regarding the possibility of attacks aimed at sabotaging the election process.
In his statement, Netanyahu said, "We have intelligence information that Iran and its proxies may try to challenge us by carrying out attacks to sabotage the election process."
The Israeli Prime Minister also issued a warning to Iran and its allies in his statement. "I warn them. Do not try to test us, you will receive much heavier blows in return," Netanyahu said.
It was also reported that Netanyahu had argued in a speech he gave on the northern border of the occupied West Bank that there were threats of attacks against the country ahead of the upcoming elections.
A similar claim had previously been brought up by Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz. Two weeks ago, Katz had alleged that Iran might attempt to carry out attacks to influence the election results before the general elections.
On the other hand, claims have also been raised in the Israeli public and international press that the Netanyahu government might launch a new military operation against Iran, Lebanon, or the Gaza Strip before the elections. It was alleged that U.S. President Donald Trump and Netanyahu discussed the possibility of a new attack on Iran in the first week of October, ahead of the general elections in Israel and the U.S. Congressional midterm elections to be held on November 3.
