The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Counter-Terrorism Directorate released a statement regarding the incident on its official Facebook account.

The statement indicated that the bomb-laden UAV targeting the coalition base near Erbil International Airport was shot down at 18:50 local time, and that the attack was carried out by "illegal militias."
