US President Donald Trump made notable remarks regarding a possible new military operation against Iran. Trump, who participated in the early voting process in Palm Beach, Florida, alongside his wife Melania Trump, answered questions from journalists after casting his ballot.
When asked at what stage the possibility of an attack on Iran was, Trump stated that the military option is on the agenda, saying, "We are thinking about it. We could perhaps even attack Iran tomorrow. But I cannot tell you that. If I am going to do it, which I have the possibility of doing, I will not say it."
Trump said that the possibility of a diplomatic deal with the Tehran administration is also on the table. "There is also a possibility that we will make a nice, big, wonderful deal. They want to make a deal, but the real issue is whether they will abide by the deal," Trump said, emphasizing that they want to be sure that Iran will not develop nuclear weapons in the future.
Explaining the rationale behind his Iran policy, the US President said, "I need to make this permanent. That is the only reason I am doing these things." Stating that oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz are continuing, Trump also made claims regarding Iran's military capacity.
Arguing that the next phase of the process will depend on Tehran's stance, Trump said, "We have done a great job on Iran. Now, will we finish this job, which would not be difficult, or will we make a deal with them? This situation will depend on them."
STATEMENT ON CEASEFIRE FROM MELANIA TRUMP
During the press conference, Melania Trump also made a statement regarding the humanitarian ceasefire initiative being carried out between Russia and Ukraine in the city of Oleshky. Stating that the ceasefire will begin on October 27, Melania Trump said, "I hope everything goes as planned."
When asked if she had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Melania Trump replied, "We spoke. We signed agreements." Donald Trump praised his wife's initiative, saying it was an effort aimed at children and civilians.
Trump also responded to a question regarding Russia's desire to make natural gas investments in Alaska. Stating that they want to develop economic relations with both Ukraine and Russia after the war ends, Trump said, "I think we will do business with both Ukraine and Russia after this war is over."
