Syrian army announces latest situation in the country: 'Trust the government'

The statement said, "We are strengthening the deployment lines of our forces in the Damascus countryside and southern regions to prevent any incidents from occurring."

Information that HTS had taken control of the outskirts of the capital, Damascus, was shared in the evening hours.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was expected to appear on camera at 8:00 PM to make a statement regarding the cities that have fallen and the withdrawals.

A statement was issued by the Syrian General Staff. The statement indicated that Syrians should trust the government and believe the news in the media. The following was expressed in the statement:

"We are strengthening the deployment lines of our forces in the Damascus countryside and southern regions to prevent any incidents from occurring. We call on our people not to believe rumors and to trust our heroic army."

The army did not acknowledge that cities had fallen. The following expressions were used in the statement by the Syrian Army Command:

"For several days, especially since this morning, our people have been facing a systematic media and terrorist war aimed at destabilizing the security of the homeland and citizens and spreading chaos.

Media platforms linked to terrorists must stop publishing misleading videos and fake news regarding the events taking place in Syrian territory.

Our heroic army has continued its high-level qualified operations against terrorist organizations in the direction of Hama, the Homs countryside, and the northern countryside of Daraa. The terrorists have caused hundreds of people to die and be injured. To prevent any incidents due to the chaos the terrorists are trying to create, our armed forces are strengthening their deployment lines in the Damascus countryside and the southern region."

President Bashar al-Assad, however, did not appear on camera despite the claims.
