A tanker sailing off the coast of the Saudi Arabian city of Yanbu was struck by an object whose origin has not yet been determined. The incident was reported to have occurred approximately 63 nautical miles west of Yanbu.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that the company security officer reported the vessel had been hit by an unknown object and that a fire had broken out on the tanker's main deck.
According to the UKMTO, it has been confirmed that all crew members on board are safe and accounted for. No environmental damage has been reported so far due to the incident.
No details were shared regarding the identity of the tanker or the source of the object. The UKMTO has called on vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to the organization.
