Trump fired, judge finds it 'unlawful'

Federal Judge Beryl Howell, based in Washington, D.C., announced her decision regarding the dismissal of NLRB employee Gwynne Wilcox.

Howell declared Trump's termination decision null and void, ruling that Wilcox, whom she stated was unlawfully fired, must return to her job.

Federal Judge Howell stated, "The President appears intent on pushing the boundaries of his office and exercising his powers in a way that violates clear legal statutes, in an effort to test the extent to which courts will accept a concept of presidential supremacy."

Howell assessed that the courts are "forced to decide how far the legislative branch can be reached into" and are "facing a risky situation that could lead to the endorsement of a legally untouchable presidency."

Pointing to a post on the White House's X social media account that depicted Trump as a king, Howell noted that President Trump may have "fundamentally misunderstood his role as the guardian of the law."

Howell remarked, "An American president, even if elected, is not a king. The authority to remove federal employees and honest officials like the plaintiff (Wilcox) is not absolute."

Since taking office on January 20, Trump has terminated the employment of many individuals serving in various federal agencies, most notably the Department of Justice.
