Trump: Iran is begging us

US President Donald Trump made assessments regarding the tension with Iran during a speech he gave at a program he attended in Michigan.

Arguing that they have largely neutralized Iran's military power, Trump stated, "People just can't see it. We destroyed their navy. We destroyed their air force. We destroyed their leadership. We destroyed their anti-aircraft systems. Production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has dropped to about 7 percent. We have destroyed a large part of their UAV and missile production capacity."

Trump stated that the Iranian administration is in contact with the US, saying, "They are currently talking to us to make a deal. But if we hadn't taken a tough stance, there wouldn't be any talks at all."

Claiming that Iran has been stalling the international community for many years, Trump argued that the country acted like the "bully of the Middle East" in the past.

TARGETED THE OBAMA ERA

Criticizing former US President Barack Obama's Iran policy in his speech, Trump said, "Obama came along and gave them tens of billions of dollars. He gave them 1.7 billion dollars in cash. Do you remember? They loaded the money onto a Boeing 757 and flew it to Tehran, 1.7 billion dollars in cash. He thought he could bribe them. But they thought, 'What a stupid country.' No, you can't bribe them. You have to beat them, and we are beating them badly."

"THEY ARE BEGGING FOR NO BLOCKADE"

Arguing that the blockade the US has imposed on Iranian ports is effective, Trump said, "But we will see what the result will be. Very friendly negotiations are currently underway. By the way, how successful is our navy with the blockade, right? How not even a single boat can get through. They are dying for us to lift the blockade we imposed. They are saying, 'We don't want a blockade anymore.' They are begging, 'Please, please, no blockade.'"
