Trump's call to Zelensky: Do not target diesel fuel facilities in Russia

U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to stop attacks on diesel fuel production facilities in Russia.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Ireland, Trump stated that Ukraine's recent long-range drone attacks on oil refineries and fuel facilities in Russia have reduced fuel production in the country and led to fuel shortages.

Stating that he had discussed the issue with Zelensky, Trump said, "There is only one thing Mr. Zelensky needs to do; he must stop hitting diesel fuel facilities in Russia. We have discussed this with Zelensky. There are many other targets that can be hit. Do not target diesel fuel. It is hurting the world."

Touching on the tightness in the global fuel supply, Trump argued that the problem does not stem from military tensions in the Middle East. Trump stated, "The shortage in the global market is not caused by the Middle East. The reason for this is what is happening in Russia and Ukraine."

The Ukrainian administration, meanwhile, emphasizes that Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure continue, and maintains that it views oil refineries and fuel facilities in Russia as legitimate military targets.
