US President Donald Trump signed several executive orders regarding Iran and the United Nations (UN). Trump signed an executive order that will "revive the maximum pressure campaign" he implemented to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to block its oil exports.
Stating that the executive order contains very harsh sanctions against Iran, Trump said he is ready to meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to try to persuade Iran to abandon its efforts to develop nuclear weapons.
Trump also declared that Iran is very close to possessing nuclear weapons and that the US has the right to prevent the sale of Iranian oil to other countries.
EXECUTIVE ORDERS REGARDING THE UN
Before his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump also signed executive orders for the US to withdraw from the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council and to halt funding provided to the UN agency for Palestinians, UNRWA.
Trump also said that Palestinians have no alternative but to leave the Gaza Strip and that he wants neighboring countries Jordan and Egypt to accept the displaced Palestinians.
