According to a statement from the US Department of Defense, Austin and Gallant spoke over the phone.

Austin and Gallant discussed Israel's investigation into the attack on WCK workers and the implementation of measures to ensure such an attack does not happen again.

Secretary Austin also emphasized the importance of increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza.

7 PEOPLE KILLED

WCK workers lost their lives in an attack carried out by Israel on the Deir al-Balah region in Gaza on April 1.

In a statement from WCK, which is headquartered in the US capital Washington, it was stated that the 7 workers who died in the attack were citizens of Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, the US-Canada, and Palestine.

The statement noted that the team was in 2 armored vehicles bearing the organization's logo in a deconfliction zone at the time of the attack.

'WE ARE IN CONTACT'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, arguing that there was "no intent" in the killing of the WCK workers, had stated: "These things happen in war, we will investigate this to the end. We are in contact with the relevant governments. We will do everything to ensure this does not happen again."
