The US military, which continues its operations against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, has made headlines this time with news of an accident. In a statement made by the US Navy, it was reported that an F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter jet stationed on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, which was moving off the coast of the Red Sea, lost control during towing to the hangar area and fell into the sea. The statement also noted that the tractor towing the aircraft was submerged in the water and one crew member was slightly injured. In the briefing regarding the accident, it was stated, "The sailors towing the aircraft immediately took action to move away from the aircraft before the accident. An investigation into the matter is ongoing." On the other hand, it was also emphasized that this incident did not affect the operational activities of the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier.

DID A HOUTHI ATTACK CAUSE THE ACCIDENT?

According to information provided by military sources speaking to the US press, it was claimed that the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier made a sudden and sharp maneuver to avoid an attack carried out by the Houthis, and that this maneuver caused the fighter jet to fall into the sea. Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, announced in a statement that they had carried out a comprehensive attack on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier and other warships attached to it in the Red Sea. Saree stated that missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were used in the attack.
