32 homes destroyed, 7 injured in wildfire near Reno, Nevada

Efforts to combat a wildfire that began on Saturday near the city of Reno in the U.S. state of Nevada are ongoing. According to information provided by authorities, the flames have reduced more than 15,000 acres of land to ashes, while 32 homes were completely destroyed and 6 others sustained damage.

It was reported that 7 people were injured in the fire. Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District Chief Richard Edwards announced that 4 of the injured were civilians and 3 were firefighters.

While efforts to bring the fire under control in the region continue, international and interstate support has arrived for the firefighting crews. It was stated that teams from Australia, New Zealand, and 15 U.S. states are participating in the operation.

According to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, wildfires are becoming increasingly common and severe in southwestern states, including Nevada. It was noted that 3 major fires are ongoing across Nevada, and a total of 79 fires are continuing nationwide.
