Renault may move the Megane family to a taller, more aerodynamic crossover-hatchback profile in its new generation. According to digital design studies published by AutoExpress, the French manufacturer is working on a comprehensive transformation that aims to position the model directly against the Tesla Model Y.
The shared design previews highlight slim headlights, a narrow grille, a low nose, and a short rear section. The front section, which is said to bear traces of the new Clio, is expected to be supported by body lines designed to reduce drag.
RANGE AND TECHNOLOGY EXPECTATIONS
It is stated that the technical infrastructure of the new Megane could include both fully electric and range-extender options. According to claims, the pure electric version, which is expected to offer all-wheel drive support, will provide a range of approximately 748 kilometers. In the REx version, where the internal combustion engine acts solely as a generator to feed the battery, it is suggested that the total range could reach up to 1,400 kilometers.
The model is expected to benefit from Renault's new generation integration approach, which it calls "cell-to-body." According to information provided by Renault Technology Chief Philippe Brunet, the vehicle will use an LFP battery pack under 90 kWh, and the total weight is aimed to be kept under 2 tons.
It is also stated that Renault is scaling its new RG EV Medium 2.0 platform to be suitable for future autonomous driving systems. In the face of plans by Chinese manufacturers to popularize Level 2++ hands-free driving technologies in Europe, it is stated that Renault is also preparing to support similar infrastructures. However, the level of autonomous capabilities to be offered in the new Megane has not yet been clarified.

On the cabin side, a layout inspired by the Renault E-Space concept is expected. A large digital panel extending across the front console positioned close to the windshield, along with a touchscreen control screen and an advanced voice command assistant, are among the expected innovations.
The Megane, which entered the product range in 1995 replacing the Renault 19, took a step into the electric transformation with the Megane E-Tech in 2021. The new generation is planned to officially hit the roads in 2028 with the goal of reaching wider audiences.
