Price hike calculation for 2027 passport fees: 10-year passport fee expected to exceed 17 thousand liras

Calculations for the tax, fee, and penalty amounts to be applied in 2027 have focused on the revaluation rate. If the October Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increases by 2 percent, it is estimated that the revaluation rate will reach 27.89 percent.

If this rate is applied and no separate adjustments are made to the relevant items, increases are expected in numerous payment categories, ranging from passport fees to international departure fees, and from mobile phone registration fees to traffic fines.

For those who want to obtain a passport or extend the validity of their current passport, it is projected that the highest amount will occur in the passport fee valid for up to 10 years. According to the calculation, the 10-year passport fee could rise to 17 thousand 150 liras.

The passport fees calculated for 2027 are based on the assumption that the revaluation rate will be 27.89 percent.
Passport validityCalculated fee
Up to 6 months3 thousand 589 liras
1 year5 thousand 247 liras
2 years8 thousand 566 liras
3 years12 thousand 170 liras
Up to 10 years17 thousand 150 liras

A similar increase calculation was made for the international departure fee. It is stated that the current amount of 1,250 liras could reach 1,599 liras with the new rate.

The IMEI registration fee paid for phones brought from abroad is also expected to increase. It was calculated that the current fee of 54 thousand 258 liras could rise to 69 thousand 391 liras with the 27.89 percent increase. The initial subscription establishment fee for telephone lines is projected to rise from 700 liras to 895 liras.

An increase calculation was also made for driver's license fees. Accordingly, it is stated that the A-class driver's license fee could rise to 2 thousand 863 liras, and the B-class driver's license fee could rise to 8 thousand 638 liras.

New amounts are also on the agenda for traffic fines. The initial fine for driving under the influence is expected to rise from 25 thousand liras to 31 thousand 973 liras, and the fine for talking on a mobile phone while driving is expected to rise from 5 thousand liras to 6 thousand 395 liras.

It is calculated that the fine applied to those who drive despite having their driver's license revoked could rise from 200 thousand liras to 255 thousand 780 liras, and the fine for obstructing traffic with a wedding convoy could rise from 180 thousand liras to 230 thousand 202 liras. An amount of 6 thousand 395 liras also stands out for the red light violation fine.

An increase is also expected in the Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV). It was calculated that the MTV amount for a brand-new vehicle with a cylinder volume between 1300-1600 cubic centimeters could rise from 12 thousand 28 liras to 15 thousand 383 liras.

Regarding the Valuable Housing Tax, it is projected that the lower value limit of 17 million 711 thousand liras applied to taxable residences could rise to 22 million 650 thousand liras. The exact rate will be clarified with the announcement of the October inflation data.
