Grammy-winning artist Placido Domingo is coming to Istanbul
Placido Domingo, recognized as one of the most important voices in the music world and a 12-time Grammy Award winner, will perform a concert at the Volkswagen Arena on May 28.
Murat Karahan and Elena Stikhina will also take the stage at the concert, where the artists will be accompanied by the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of conductor Carlo Tenan.
Placido Domingo is among the great living legends of classical music, not only for his opera career but also for his work as an orchestra conductor.
Throughout his career spanning over 50 years, the artist has performed in more than 150 works on the world's most important stages, given over 4,400 performances, and produced more than 100 albums, most of which consist of opera recordings.
Supporting young singers by serving as the president of the international singing competition Operalia, which he founded, the artist also performed 'The Three Tenors' concerts with Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti for more than a decade starting in 1990.
In addition to his singing, the artist has conducted more than 600 concerts as an orchestra conductor and has starred in opera films directed by Franco Zeffirelli (Cavalleria rusticana, La traviata, and Otello), Francesco Rosi (Carmen), and Gianfranco De Bosio (Tosca).
