10 people arrested in 'urban consensus' investigation targeting nine municipalities: Accused of membership in a terrorist organization

As part of an investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the "urban consensus" initiative—which is considered an organizational activity of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization—10 individuals, including deputy mayors of Kartal and Ataşehir municipalities, as well as municipal council members from Üsküdar, Sancaktepe, Fatih, Tuzla, Adalar, Şişli, and Beyoğlu, were brought to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan at 11:00 this morning on allegations of being members of the HDK, which is described as the infrastructure of the terrorist organization.

The suspects, whose statements were taken by the prosecutor's office, were referred to the duty magistrate judge with a request for their arrest on charges of "membership in the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization."

Within the scope of the 'urban consensus' investigation conducted into 9 municipalities in Istanbul, Kartal Deputy Mayor Cemalettin Yüksel, Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Livan Gür, Üsküdar Municipal Council Member Bülent Kaygun, Sancaktepe Municipal Council Member Elif Gül, Fatih Municipal Council Member Güzin Alpaslan, Tuzla Municipal Council Member Hasan Özdemir, Adalar Municipal Council Member Nesimi Aday, Şişli Municipal Council Member Sinan Gökçe, Beyoğlu Municipal Council Member Turabi Şen, and İkbal Polat, who was alleged to have ties to the Beyoğlu Municipality, were arrested following their questioning by the judge.
