14-year-old fires Kalashnikov into the air in Sarıyer: Weapon found in abandoned building

In Istanbul's Sarıyer district, a 14-year-old identified as K.D. allegedly fired a Kalashnikov into the air in front of the home of an individual with whom he reportedly had a feud. The incident occurred yesterday at approximately 21:30 in the Çayırbaşı neighborhood.

Following a report, teams from the Sarıyer Public Security Bureau were dispatched to the area. Police found 5 spent shell casings at the scene and reviewed surrounding security camera footage. Based on the footage, the individual who fired the shots was identified as K.D.

While K.D. was taken into custody, it was determined that he was accompanied by B.D. (16) and D.Ç. (16). It was reported that the moment of the shooting was recorded on a mobile phone camera.

During the police investigation, the Kalashnikov believed to have been used in the incident was seized in a 2-story abandoned building. It was determined that the weapon had been placed inside a cut-up sofa cushion and hidden in a navy blue bag. The weapon was confiscated.

Meanwhile, motorcycle police teams from the Sarıyer Patrol Division, who were conducting operations in the same area, stopped 17-year-old B.S. after he displayed suspicious behavior in front of a gas station. B.S. was also taken into custody after an unlicensed pistol was found during a pat-down search.

During this time, Serkan E. (49), Hakan E. (27), and Haktan E. (23) were apprehended for allegedly resisting the police. Following processing, Serkan E. and Hakan E. were released.

It was reported that K.D. was referred to the courthouse on charges of "violating the law on firearms" and "intentionally endangering general safety," while B.S. was referred on charges of "violating the law on firearms." It was learned that K.D. and B.D. each have 2 prior police records, Serkan E. has 8, Hakan E. has 3, and Haktan E. has 5.
